Year 10 Students Shine on Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expeditions
Earlier this term, our Year 10 Silver Duke of Edinburgh students completed their practice expedition in rural Gloucestershire. Walking for two days in bright sunshine, they navigated confidently through the countryside and maintained a strong pace throughout.
The groups camped for two cold nights, even waking to frost! Despite the chilly nights, they kept their spirits high throughout. Students cooked their own meals, managed camp independently and enjoyed time together in the evenings.
Following this, students completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) qualifying expedition in the Long Mynd. Over three days and two nights, they navigated challenging routes through the Shropshire Hills, demonstrating excellent teamwork, resilience and independence. Along the way, they encountered wild sheep and ponies while enjoying spectacular views from the hilltops, making the experience both rewarding and memorable.
