Y8 Rocket Day Inspires Future Engineers

On 16th June 2026, Year 8 students took part in an exciting STEM Rocket Challenge, learning about engineering and the career opportunities it offers.

Working in teams, students designed and built their own water rockets, applying key principles such as aerodynamics, streamlining and centre of mass. The challenge encouraged creativity, problem-solving and teamwork throughout the day.

The highlight was the rocket launch on the school field, where students competed to see whose rocket could travel the furthest. As a House competition, valuable House points were up for grabs, with the winning teams earning the opportunity to represent Studley against other schools in The Shires Trust.

The event was a fantastic opportunity for students to explore STEM in a fun and practical way. 🚀
