In March 2015, year 10 pupils were invited to apply for the position of “School Prefect.” Applicants completed an application form and were then interviewed by a senior member of staff. Fifty three pupils were successful. From those some pupils then applied by letter for the position of Head Boy/Girl or Senior Prefect.

Following appointments all prefects were given training and allocated break and lunch duties. Senior prefects were designated committees to support across school.

From the summer term prefects have supported in school in a number of areas. The Head/Deputy boy/girl gave a detailed presentation to school governors outlining their role. Speeches have also been delivered in assemblies and presentations given to prospective year 7 parents. All of the prefects have been a great asset to the school supporting our two “Open Evenings”

Within school the prefects organised and delivered our “Studley Election” (Conservative won.) Other activities have included the Scarecrow competition, the sunflower competition and more recently the MacMillan coffee morning.

Prefects have held school council meeting and have worked with staff to represent pupil views on school trips and wet lunch time arrangements. Recently, year 11 senior prefects and year 10 form captains were involved in a project with the “Youth Parliament” for the County Youth Panel.

Committee prefects have been a big support with celebration events such as sports day and in the drama department with performances. The digital ambassadors have been a great support to staff with ICT.

Ms Haines has recently appointed another eleven prefects to the team and prefects are looking forward to a range of up and coming events.
