 Student Support Centre

The Student Support Centre offers a calm and quiet place in which students are offered the opportunity to totally focus on their individual work. There is also an opportunity for students to discuss any worries or problems they may be experiencing.

Up to five students, at any one time, from all year groups, work in the welcoming and friendly environment of SSC. They range from those who are following an integration/reintegration programme to others who are introduced to SSC by their Key Stage Co-ordinator (Mr S. Baxter/Mrs S. Toms) /Assistant Head Teacher for Student Centred Learning (Mrs P. Stephenson) / the Head Teacher (Mrs E. E. Young) for individual reasons.

 Literacy and Numeracy Support

Literacy and Numeracy Unit - 'The Den'

'The Den' offers;

1-1 sessions or small groups of up to 6 students are given extra support to develop basic literacy and numeracy skills, using a multi-sensory approach to learning.

This is undertaken by following the government's National Strategy for Literacy and Numeracy.

Pupils use various resources to reinforce strategies taught, which include use of I.C.T. software such as Number Shark and Word Shark.

The students work in a relaxed and safe environment where they are encouraged to work together and support each other. It is hoped that this will build self confidence which will have a positive impact during their school life and beyond.
