Year 10 pupils studying GCSE Health and Social Care had the pleasure of hosting a presentation from representatives from Myton Hospice. Pupils learned about the varied services offered at the hospice, from outpatient and in-patient, complementary therapies and their ‘rainbow ripples’ and ‘myteen’ services. Pupils learned of the variety of staffing roles at Myton Hospice and heard about ‘a day in the life of a fund raiser’ and ‘a day in the life of a community fund raiser’. Pupils were surprised to learn that the care was free and found it ‘insightful’ .

“I thought it was just a hospital, but now I have realised it is more like a home!” Brodie Hands

This presentation forms part of pupil’s skills for employment and their course work assessment. Pupils are keen to move forward in planning, organising and leading on fund raising initiatives and have the opportunity of a tour later in the year to meet staff and volunteers, which will enable them to see what the actual setting is like.
