Trip to Germany
French
Key Stage 3
All pupils will study French from Year 7. They will, therefore, have 3 years’ French at Key Stage 3.
In Year 7 we are laying the foundations for all future foreign language learning. Our aim is to teach pupils the skills for independent referencing, for learning off by heart and for making links between one piece of knowledge and another.
Key Stage 4
In Years 10 and 11, pupils can choose to study GCSE French.
German
Key Stage 3
In Year 8, the majority of pupils will begin to study German, as well as French.
As pupils will have been learning French for one year, they will have established language learning skills, and will be able to progress quickly in German. After studying German for 2 years, pupils are expected to have reached almost the same level as for French
Key Stage 4
In Years 10 and 11 pupils can choose to study GCSE German.
Spanish
In Years 8 and 9, some lower ability groups are able to study Spanish for one year as a second language. This is a great opportunity to sample the language and hopefully to be able to use it on holiday!
Château de Grande Romaine
A visit to France from Friday 29th June 2007 to Monday 2nd July 2007.
We will be staying at the Château de Grande Romaine which is a PGL owned and managed centre in Lesigny, France. Each day will be a combination of on site activities and local excursions, (the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre (Sacre Coeur), Euro Disney, Boat Trip on the Seine).
The trip will be run by Mrs L Ayton and Mme Y Tarby-Donald in conjunction with PGL School Tours.
